Christopher Ferrer
Cello
Christopher Ferrer is a member of contemporary music ensemble Lakeshore Rush and principal cellist of Camerata Chicago.
Not infrequently, Christopher’s deep love of the outdoors has led to him playing cello in some unexpected places––along riverbanks, around campfires, sometimes even in the rain.
Christopher has toured internationally as an orchestral and chamber musician, performing in concert with My Morning Jacket and Chance the Rapper – as well as with the Artemis Chamber Orchestra, Chicago Children's Chorus, Chicago Jazz Philharmonic, Chicago Sinfonietta, New Millennium Orchestra, and The Florida Orchestra.
As a member of Lakeshore Rush, Christopher presents classical chamber music alongside the music of living composers. Projects over the past ten seasons include a residency at Avaloch Farms Music Institute; premieres and new commissions by Laura Schwendinger, Beth Bradfish, and Amos Gillespie – as well as performances for Merit School of Music, Thirsty Ears, the Chicago Composers' Consortium, New Music Chicago, and the George Crumb festival at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Christopher has also presented programs for the Texas Music Educators Association, The National Flute Association, University of Illinois Chicago, and Lawrence University.
